What’s the best cure for acid reflux? I take 2 protonix daily and still have terrible pain.?

by Ben Bradley on 11:33 pm

I’ve had many tests and know this isn’t heart related. Are there any home remedies?

Have you modified your diet. I know its a harsh reality, but those of us, who have acid reflux MUST make some personal changes. I too take protonix, and it took about a week before I really noticed an improvement.

Have you tried changing your diet? I know certain foods tend to trigger stomach acid more than others. You may want to try a blander diet, or speaking with a nutritionist to see what you can do.

I have the same condition and have been told by a few that apple cider vinegar works well Went to the health food store and bought some caps. They did warn me that although it works for most people some it makes worse. It made mine worse.

Good luck

You can raise the head of your bed about 4 inches. Eat frequent small meals. Pay attention to what you have eaten when you have these problems and avoid that food. Do not eat large amounts ever. This raises the level of contents in your stomach and brings the acid to the base of the esophagus. Talk to your doctor about possibly switching meds. There is a surgery that can be performed, but all other measures should be taken first.

prevacid is the best. It’s expensive. If you can affored it try geting on their patient assistae program. It goes by your income level. When You call TAP phanaceuticals ask what the income level you have to meet to quaify. Ask your doctor or a pharmasist for the phone number

I have acid reflux, the best thing is to eat small amount of foods at one meal, and drink water to help push the food down. stay away from greasy fatty foods, bake foods are better. I feel that anything too full will backflow. after you eat sit up about 30 minutes. give the food time to digest some. do not over stuff yourself.

As a person who has excessive acid reflux problems, discuss the problem with your doctor. There are many other drugs that can be prescribed. Aciphex did wonders for me as protonix did nothing.

Good-quality digestive enzymes can help reflux. They need to be taken before/with every snack or meal. Different formulations do different things, so check around if you’re interested.
